Following the Traces of Bruck's Art and Architectural Treasures

Pleasant and gemütlich, and if you include our Castle Hill, Schlossberg, just a bit challenging, you'll enjoy walking around one of the most the beautiful city centers in all of Styria. Take yourself on a journey of discovery to the art and architectural treasures of the city.

Castle Hill paths: They are a bit steep, and winter services are not provided, so accessibility is limited.  You can also continue on to Weitental and its Nature Conservation Center/wildlife sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Styria, which will take an additional hour.

Tour description

From the tourism information center offices/city hall we walk towards the parish church and on to Castle Hill.  The trail winds down towards the square at the Church of the Minorites.  We stroll along the pedestrian district through the Mittergasse and Roseggerstrasse to Ringelschmiedgasse.  We walk down towards the River Mur, passing by the historic Baderhaus, to the Schiffertor part of the old city wall.  The route then takes us back to the Main Square Koloman Wallisch Platz, where we can see the Kornmess Residence, the Wrought Iron Well, the Antauer Residence ..., finishing up at the tourism information center once again.  Part of the path to and on Castle Hill is dedicated to the last European minnesinger, Hugo von Montfort.  There are several literature stations erected along the path from the Church of the Minorites - Castle Hill paying homage to this poet of the Middle Ages.  A further option to taking the trail to Weitental is making a visit to the Church of St. Ruprecht.
